About the Craftsman: Gerry Hamm

G.H. Woodworking was formed in 1998 from the original company G.H. Building Enterprises, Inc. At that time we were completing projects with sub-contractors ranging from residential to commercial build outs. I then decided to pursue what interested me most “Woodworking”.

I purchased more equipment focusing on the woodworking aspect of my business and started working on projects varying from fabricating custom cabinetry to custom doors and installation. In furthering my interest in the custom woodworking I purchased a portable sawmill which enables me to take logs that might have ended up in a firewood pile and turn them into useable material.

While using the sawmill to create useable material, my interest in recycling urban trees, reclaimed lumber and timber from barns and old buildings just became instinctive to me. We are now members of the Wood Utilization Team, which is a team that is creating a market for the trees infested with the Emerald Ash Borer, rather than just having the good wood from these trees turned into mulch. Over the last 10 years we have been crafting custom pieces such as kitchen cabinets, custom doors, mantels and furniture. Daily we learn and explore options and new ways of creating these pieces such as mentioned above and recycling wood to create such pieces.
